Academic Guiding Principles

HONESTY/CHEATING/PLAGIARISM

At KTU, we believe is “as unto the Lord” and we thus hold to a high academic standard of honesty; we do not tolerate plagiarism and cheating. Students found guilty of any form of academic dishonesty face consequences ranging from interaction with the Academic Dean to expulsion from KTU. To ensure that students are aware of all exam limitations, especially concerning academic honesty, all exam instructions need to be carefully reviewed before beginning the exam.

Cheating is defined in this context as using unauthorized materials or receiving unauthorized assistance during an examination or other academic exercise. Examples of cheating include the following:

Copying the work of another student during an examination or other

   academic exercise.

Permitting another student to copy your work.

Taking an examination for another student.

Allowing another student to take your examination.

Possessing unauthorized notes, study sheets, examinations, or other

materials during an examination or other academic exercise.

Collaborating with another student during an academic exercise without

   the instructor’s consent.

  Falsifying examination results.

Plagiarism is defined as the use of another’s ideas or words without appropriate acknowledgment. Examples of plagiarism include the following:

Failing to use quotation marks when directly quoting from a source.

Failing to document distinctive ideas from a source.

  Fabricating or inventing sources.

Copying information from computer-based sources (e.g., the Internet)

   without attribution.

Any time a concept or quotation from another author is used in student writing, the concept or quotation must be identified and footnoted.

Violation of University Behavioral Standards

Disciplinary Process

All offenses will be handled on an individual basis. Any and all disciplinary sanctions may be applied. Some offenses may be considered minor in nature, while others are of greater concern and will result in action that is reflective of that. Penalties will increase if offenses accumulate or if more than one offense is involved in any incident. Every violation and decision will be discussed with the student. Students should be aware that all federal, state, and local laws apply as well. Enrollment in no way negates coverage from civil law. Penalty from civil law does not exempt students from further discipline by the University. The University reserves the right to discipline students for conduct off the University premises if such conduct is detrimental to the reputation of the University or its mission.

 Discipline Sanctions

All disciplinary infractions will be considered cumulative across the entire period of a student’s enrollment with Kingdom Truth University. Potential actions in the event of irresponsible behavior include:

  1. Written Warning: Students will receive a letter from the University informing them that they have engaged in behavior that is in violation of Kingdom Truth University Behavioral Standards.  If they should continue to engage in this behavior or any other behavior that is in violation of the University Behavioral Standards, more serious actions may be taken by the University.  Written warnings may take the form of email or regular mail and will be clearly marked such.
  1. Request for Voluntary Withdrawal: Students may be asked to withdraw for their best interest.
  1. Suspension: Temporary immediate removal from academic status and other privileges for a designated period for the purpose of concentrated institutional and personal assessment of the student’s ability to benefit from KTU educational experience. During this assessment period, the student is not allowed on campus. Participation in any University sponsored events is prohibited.
  1. Expulsion: Permanent removal from school and immediate cessation of participation in the University’s programs and services. Enrollment will be terminated with immediate departure from campus. The student will not be allowed to return to Kingdom Truth University location nor to participate in any University sponsored event.

The university will not tolerate harassment or abuse of any member of the university community against any other. Students who are deemed a serious risk of imminent harm to themselves or others may be dismissed immediately.
